• The set's name "Wukong" is likely a reference to two separate instances of the name:
  • The Shaolin Hero is heavily based off of the Monkey King, who is also known as "Sun Wukong" (孫悟空; sūnwùkōng). Originally one of the main characters of the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West, he has become a folk hero staple in Chinese culture.
  • There also is a Buddhist monk by the same name who lived during the mid to late 700s, around a millennium prior to the conception of Journey to the West.
