Vanguards are one of four types of playable heroes in For Honor. They are well balanced heroes with good attack and defense capabilities. While not as tanky as the Heavies or as lethal as the Assassins, they can certainly hold their own in a fight. Each of the three factions will have one Vanguard available for players.
