"Orvi carissimus"[]

Where does "orvi" come from? I've looked high and low (wiktionary, Whitaker's Words, perseus.tufts etc) and don't see how it means "blind", and what those sources have for "blind" are different words entirely.

Translations for the Gladiator were primarily derived from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YImnObzEnDE.  0:48.  There is still some issue with the translations for both characters.  For the Highlander, there is disagreement whether he is speaking Icelandic or Gaelic with people of both native tongues saying that it is their language.  For the Gladiator, there are very few people who've managed to translate what is he saying.  And my own Latin source still needs to check her email.  While the other lines were easy to figure out and are generally agreed on by everyone else whose done it, the aforementioned line is the one giving people trouble. It is generally agreed that the second word is either carissimus or cara simus but the first is the one everyone is struggling on.  If you can figure out what he is saying you can make the corrections but I've been hovering the O section of the latin dictionary for hours and I still can't say for sure.

I think  "cara simus" is likely more accurate considering how the Gladiator stresses the "si" syllable. The word "carissimus" is not stressed at that part, the only long vowel it has the "a" part, however "simus" does have a lengthed vowel with the "i" part, "cara simus" does make grammatical sense, even if "simus" should be in the vocative, though the same mistake was made for Lawbringer with his "ad mortem" line.

I think the first word might be "orire", the second person imperative of "orior", a verb meaning "to become visible". This could then possibly be translated as "come out" or "show yourself".

55ad-200ad, because Rome's slave population was at a historically baffling apex. Also, (skip to section 7): History.com/news/history-lists/
