Take part in the second part of the Tales of Rebellion storyline as you join the Chimera Alliance to retake the fort that has been claimed by Gretar. Over the course of three weeks, each week will feature a different chapter of this subjugation, from escorting Ilma the blacksmith, to pillaging Draconite, to confronting the corrupted Gretar. Partake in this event to get access to exclusive rewards for all of your heroes.

Take note that the fortress is planned to be fully overtaken by December 3rd, so claim your rewards of pillaging Gretar's fortress before that date.

Overview[]

After the success of the rebellion against the Samurai Horkos, the Chimera Alliance is fully formed. However, the Horkos have stolen the Draconite weapon into Viking territory! Follow Ilma once more as you raid a fort in Valkenheim and face the Viking Horkos to take back the weapon. Joining the rebellion as the Viking rebels and their leader, the Jormungandr Fjorgvin. On top of all that, Ilma has been tinkering with the Draconite to make new weaponry...!

Event Game Mode[]

Rescue 2[]

"Conquer zones and protect the Blacksmith from the warriors of Horkos to reclaim the fortress! Use the Draconite Weapon against Corrupted enemies!"

Band together with fellow players in escorting Ilma the mysterious Blacksmith into Gretar's Fortress. Take note though, aside from the Horkos sending their corrupted warriors to stop you from advancing, the fortress itself has been contaminated by Draconite. So make your advance carefully as you protect Ilma.

Rescue 2 is a modified version of the Emperor's Escape game mode from the Zhanhu's Gambit event. You will have to escort Ilma, who will act as a companion with an AI of a Guardian, from the Attacking end of the Gauntlet map, up to the barricks, over the drawbridges of the map, to the defending side where the Horkos Phaedon is stationed. However, you cannot progress too quickly as the fortress is encapsulated in poisonous fumes from all the corrupted Draconite, which you have to purify one zone at a time. On top of this, you will have to face special Viking Horkos warriors in each zone, until you eventually meet the Phaedon at the last zone. For specific details on the gamemode, check here.

Compared to the first Rescue gamemode, your team will also gain access to the Draconite weapon at the end of every odd-number zone captured (Zones 1, 3, and 5) which can be brought to the next zone. However, the Horkos will send their own Horkos Warrior that has Corrupted Armor (spawning in the next zone), making them impenetrable unless hit by the Draconite weapon, and the Uninterruptible trait. Each strike will deal 35 damage, but only remove the Draconite for 5 seconds.

Along side the normal Horkos warriors, there are corrupted Horkos warriors who will feature increased damage and inflict Bleed with every strike. The following is the list of zones and what enemies your team will encounter during the game:

  • Zone 1: You will face a group of Officers (Officers are executable Captains) and Pikemen. This is the only zone where Pikemen will spawn.
  • Zone 2: This zone features some Officers together with two Horkos Followers (lvl 1 Berserker bots). Every other wave will feature a corrupted Horkos Follower, with an Officer coming to their aid. In the capture zone, a third Horkos Follower that has Corrupted Armor will spawn independently (timing is close to every other wave).
  • Zone 3:This zone features some Officers together with two Horkos Archons (lvl 2 Warlord bots). Every other wave will feature two corrupted Horkos Archons.
  • Zone 4: This zone features an Officer together with two Horkos Archons (lvl 2 Raider bots). Every other wave will feature a corrupted Horkos Strategos (lvl 2 Raider bot). In the capture zone, a third Horkos Archon that has Corrupted Armor will spawn independently (timing is close to every other wave).
  • Zone 5: This zone features Officers (the capture zone will feature a Horkos Guardian) together with a new corrupted Horkos Strategos (lvl 2 Warmonger bot). Every other wave will feature a non-corrupted Horkos Archon (lvl 2 Warmonger bot).
  • Final Zone: Fight the Horkos Phaedon, a highly corrupted Warlord enemy who has a high amount of health and is a level 3 bot. Together with him will be s Horkos Guardians, with a Horkos Strategos (lvl 2 Warmogner bot) spawning in independently with Corrupted Armor.

Pillage 2[]

"Kill soldiers to collect Draconite. Secure your Draconite in the Draconite Zones to gain them permanently for your team. Reach 1000 Draconite to break the enemy team, then kill them all to win. Beware of Corrupted Enemies. Use the Draconite Weapon against them!"

Now that you have secured a place inside of Gretar's fortress, pillage what Draconite you can from the Horkos. The enemy have been collecting these crystals to increase their power, so cut their supplies off. The Horkos will also be sending their own warriors to save what resources they can, so beat them to the punch!

Pillage 2 is a modified version of the Soul Rush game mode from the Shadows of the Hitokiri event. You will partake in a specialized 4v4 gamemode where your team is pitted against the Horkos in collecting Draconite by killing Horkos miners spawned on the field and deposit their gains to the deposits. The map will be Gauntlet again, but has been downsized by having the Attacker's Entrance and City Entrance (the Attacker and Defender spawns in Dominion mode) and the pathways to them blocked off. For specific details on the gamemode, check here.

Not much is different from the original Pillage event. However, the enemy team will all be corrupted (deal bleed damage with every hit), while their Warmonger leader, Rhamnusia, will have Corrupted Armor, being impenetrable though she won't be uninterruptible once her armor is gone, unlike previous Horkos who had such armor. There will also be only one Deposit this time, located in the center of the map in the Killing Field. On the upside, Rhamnusia will choose to guard the Deposit, effectively reducing the Horkos' team size to three when not fighting at the Killing Field, on top of her having an extended respawn timer of 72 seconds. To combat Rhamnusia, the Draconite Weapon will spawn at the Gatehouse drop above the Killing Field as long as Rhamnusia is alive.

Overthrow 2[]

"Defend the Blacksmith while she forges a Draconite weapon with Heavy and Zones Attacks to help you defeat the Horkos leader."

With the forge setup once more, Ilma is back again... but with new discoveries! She has made improvements to what the Draconite Weapon is capable of, so protect her as she crafts the weapon. The Horkos Leader, Gretar, and the other Viking Horkos will be in for a surprise...!

Overthrow 2 is based off the Overthrow gamemode, which is its own gamemode with some borrowed features from older events, such as the use of a special weapon which was first featured during the Wrath of the Jormungandr event. The gamemode plays in two parts: in the first part, you will need to protect Ilma as she is forging the Draconite weapon from waves of Viking Horkos; in the second part, you will use the Draconite weapon to attack Gretar and his fellow Warmonger allies until the Draconite weapon breaks, whereafter you will go back to Ilma who will reforge the weapon. You will perform these tasks three times, where on the third time you will finally kill Gretar. For specific details on the gamemode, check here.

Ilma and her forge will be located at the center of the Gauntlet map, covering the entire Killing Field area. Meanwhile, Gretar will be located on the Defender's side of the map, just at the gate of the City entrance.

While defending Ilma, the Viking Horkos will be grouped up in waves: the first set of enemies will be Highlander warriors; the second, after depleting a third of Gretar's health, will be Valkyrie warriors; lastly, after depleting Gretar's health to only a third left, you will face Shaman warriors. One out of four of these warriors will be Corrupted, dealing bleed damage. When facing Gretar, he will always be accompanied with two Warmongers, one of which will wear Corrupted Armor; the first wave will be Asbestos, the second will be Rhamnusia, and the last will be Sabaktes.

As an enemy, Gretar will attack much like a commander, blocking some attacks, but mostly staying on the offense when approached (won't executed if he lands a Heavy on you or an ally). He will often use his bash abilities to knock you and your allies around.

The Draconite Weapon has been upgraded to its Second Stage, now having a bit more health (125 Health compared to its 100 in the First Stage) together with its own Heavy Attack and Zone Attack. Heavy Attack, even when used during a sprint, will have the wielder dig the weapon into the ground below them before performing an uppercut that cleaves the ground in front of them in a large cone. This attack deals moderate damage and will knockdown enemies caught in its wake (except for Gretar). The Zone Attack has the wielder perform two spinning attacks, one after the other, dealing high amounts of damage (60 damage per hit) except to Gretar who will only receive 24 damage per hit. Both abilities cover a wide area of effect and will remove Corrupted Armor from Gretar and the Warmonger with Corrupted Armor. However, as evident in Rescue 2, the Horkos have developed the Draconite Armor to be resistant to the Hammer's armor-removing properties, where Gretar and the armored Warmonger will lose their armor for only 5 seconds instead of 10.

Map Changes[]

The event takes place on the Gauntlet map, as that has become Gretar's fortress. Just like in the live game's version of the map, the map is overtaken by the Horkos, but this is taken up to eleven as it is heavily infested by Draconite with grey clouds hovering low to cover the sky in darkness.

Other Changes[]

Event Rewards & Pass[]

Outside the Event Order, players who participate in the event can loot exclusive in-game rewards, including new Chimera Alliance themed outfits, ornaments, and Chimera Riddle Mood effects. However, unlike Events before, cosmetic loot is attained by a free Event Pass. The free Event Pass enables players to earn the outfits, ornaments and effects over the span of 30 tiers, removing the randomness players faced previously when trying to attain these cosmetic items. New weapon visuals represent a new age of weaponry, based off the sharing of culture between the factions. The Knights and Vikings have weapon visuals that emulate the Samurai and Wu Lin styles, while the Samurai and Wu Lin feature designs of the Knights and Vikings; this includes the swap of motif between Eastern and Western dragons. Weapon visuals are the only event exclusive reward that needs to attained through loot drops as it won't be present in the Pass.

Players can also opt to purchase the special items that are exclusive to the event. There are two new cosmetics, on top of one event-exclusive emote. Show how educated you are as part of the Alliance with the Scholar of Chimera Illustrious outfit, on top of showing your enlightenment with the Sylvan Meditation Emote. For the event, grab the Sylvan Book emote where you will unlock the secrets within sacred texts.

Trivia[]

  • Fjorgvin, the Jormungandr mentioned as the Viking representative of the Chimera Alliance, may be named after Fjorgyn and/or Fjorgynn.
    • There is a Jormungandr armor set piece of the same name, as seen here. Although Fjorgvin's main attire seems to be the Dalecarlian set, some promotional material does show the Jormungandr wearing the arms and chest pieces of the Fjorgvin set, although the helmet is that of the Hulda's Ardor.
  • The daily orders of this event feature lore pieces that were teased in the loading screen during the previous event, Monsters of the Otherworld. In comparison to them, the lore featured in the orders are a bit more extensive in description.
  • The hints for the event order's riddle all reside on the Horkos variant of the Gauntlet map, around the bunker (point C in Dominion) laid somewhere on the floors.
    • The first hint can be found at the Attacker's entrance into the bunker, where the two small stairs lead into the capture point. It comes in the form of a runic circle surrounded by ancient futhark, the runic alphabet. 5 runes are missing from the futhark, consisting of ᛏ (T), ᛖ (E), ᚢ (U), ᚱ (R) and ᚾ (N). Adding these five letters to the first word as an anagram leads to the possibility of it being "Return."
    • The second hint can be found inside the bunker, at the Defender's entrance side. On the floor is a set of Old English letters, which seem to be an excerpt from the epic poem Beowulf, with some letters missing from it. The following is the full excerpt sentence, with the missing letters placed in parentheses: sceolde lændaga æ(þ)e(l)ing ærgod ende gebidan worulde lifes (on)d (s)e w(yrm) som(od). Currently, it is unclear what this hint points to, although there are speculations this six letter word is "winged."
    • The third and final hint can be found at the bottom of the stairs that is just outside the point and leading down to the killing field. It is printed on top of a leather pelt, and reads "獅子" (Chinese: shīzi; Japanese: shishi). In Japanese and Chinese, this translates to "lion" and fits the last spot on the riddle, as it is a four letter word.
      • If the above are to be true, including the speculative second hint, this event order's hint likely referred to Holden Cross who makes a return as a mercenary under the name of Gryphon, a namesake that can also be called "a winged lion."
  • The Warmonger leading the Horkos in the Pillage gamemode, Rhamnusia, is named after the goddess who enacts retribution against those who succumb to hubris, Nemesis.
