Okuma (jp:大熊) is a character that appears in For Honor's Singleplayer Campaign.
Overview[]
A Shugoki of immense strength, Okuma was an old friend of The Orochi and helped free him/her from prison. He helps defend the city and drive out the Vikings. After Ayu is captured and left in the swamp, Okuma manages to find her. He was among the soldiers waiting outside the palace to overthrow Seijuro. Once this is done, he joins the armies in the siege on the Blackstone Legion's castle. He opens the gate to Apollyon and lets The Orochi through to reach her.
Personality[]
Okuma was a man of few words. When he did speak it was usually to speak his mind and he speaks in a composed tone of voice. When he does have to speak in other scenarios he tries to use as few words as possible though this appears to be out of awkwardness; such as when he approaches Ayu to tell her about the Vikings escaping, he gives an awkward pause before simply stating "Vikings".
Trivia[]
- In Japanese, Okuma is written in Kanji as 大熊 (Ōkuma), which means "Great Bear," fitting his image as a large Shugoki.
- Okuma wears the Masamoto chest, together with a modified Okuda helm and arms. There is paint on the forehead of the helm, while the arms uniquely features demon-face ornaments.
- Near the end of the story campaign chapter Duty, where the Vikings are being pushed back, Okuma shouts the line, "Get out of my swamp." This may be a reference to the movie Shrek and its titular character.
- Later on, players would call any Shugoki coloured in a green palette "Shrek."
- A Shugoki by the name of "Okuma" appears in the lore snippet behind the Shadows of the Hitokiri. It is unknown if this is the same Okuma as the one in the campaign, especially since it's unknown if Okuma belongs to the "Minamoto Clan" as stated in the event's lore.
- Shadows of the Hitokiri's Okuma appears in the Event Quest "Sakura's Repentance." Although wearing the same helmet family as the story campaign's Okuma (Okuda), his chest and arm armor are different.
