The Honor Games are not over yet. Season 2 continues with the Metal Trials: a tribute to the fall of Apollyon. Warriors from all factions will reenact legendary battles, impersonating the heroes and villains who made history. Not only will you be able to replay the fan-favorite gamemode, Test Your Metal, you will also get access to all the great rewards that come with it.

To celebrate the Truce of Wyverndale, warriors from all factions gathered in a legendary fortress to reenact battles from the past. The last chapter of the Honor Games would soon be remembered as one of the darkest moments in Heathmoor’s history.

Starting June 11th, relive the fan-favorite game-mode "Test Your Metal" within the festivities of the For Honor Games. The first two weeks will have you fight individual factions, whereas the last week will pit you against the finest warriors from all factions at once. Play now and get access to the long awaited black gear sets and other exclusive rewards for all of your heroes.

Be aware though, this is the final chapter of the Honor Games, which means that you have until July 2nd, 2020 to face these imposters who call themselves champions and collect these fine prizes.

Overview

"Remember the heroes and villains who wrote Heathmoor's history? Challenge their impersonators to win exclusive rewards!"

In celebration of the second chapter of the Honor Games, each faction sends their finest warriors to partake in a reenactment of For Honor's darkest history: Apollyon's Legacy. Warriors now will fight impersonators who will depict the greatest warriors of each faction, from their villains to their heroes... or is there more plotted for violence?

Event Game Mode

Test Your Metal I

"Elimination match against the best impersonators of Heathmoor. The enemy team will get stronger every time you win!"

The much-anticipated Test Your Metal is back with a twist: a crowd of spectators. Group up with 3 of your friends and battle campaign mode powerhouses like Tozen, Gudmundr, and Apollyon for the enjoyment of the crowd!

Test Your Metal has you participate in a best-of-7 Elimination throughout the event. However, during this first chapter, you will face off against a team compromised of a faction's greatest warriors. There are three teams, and one will be randomly chosen for you to fight against for the match. The three teams are as follows:

Take note, for every round that you win, all enemies will become stronger as they receive bonuses that improve their health, grant them a regenrating shield and even increase the damage they deal.

Along with the HUD, the match will also provide audio cues for when heroes die. When you or anyone on your team dies, the crowd boos in disappointment. When an enemy hero dies, the crowd cheers.

Test Your Metal II

"Elimination match against impersonators of the greatest warriors who wrote history. Brace yourselves, the enemy team will get stronger every time you win!"

After the first week of the event, you will no more fight against one single faction, but instead fight the powerhouse of each faction in one team. Together with Apollyon and Gudmundr is Tozen and his Shadow, bringing to the table a difficult battle to be had.

Just like the two weeks prior, all enemies will become stronger as they receive the aforementioned buffs.

Map Changes

The event takes places on the Shard, and has been decorated for the festivities.

Event Rewards

Outside the Event Order, players who participate in the event can loot exclusive in-game rewards, including the Apollyon themed weapons, outfits, ornaments, and Mood effects that were featured back during the Apollyon's Legacy event. Black gear visuals and Apollyon weapons make a return as loot that drops after games.

Players can also opt to purchase the special items that are exclusive to the event. The I am War! emote makes a return, while the Illustrious set featuring the mask of Apollyon is bundled in this same package. The I am War! emote becomes a dropped loot during the third week, where playing games grants a chance of a random Hero getting the emote.

During the third and final week of the event, the new "Timeless Wolf" Illustrious Outfit is available for the taking. With a different colour scheme from the Apollyon's Wolves set, it also includes the golden mask the imposters have been using during the event. This is an Event exclusive set, and will be removed from the store after July 2nd.

Trivia

  • In the splashart for the event, it is apparent that some of the equipment used by the Heroes are incorrect. For example, the crossguard of the sword Apollyon wields is supposed to be the Magnus guard, but is the Aragon guard in the splashart.
    • This may be explained by how, according to the lore of the event, the enemy Heroes participating are actually impersonators or actors.
    • During the Metal Trials event, this is even more apparent as the Characters faced in the event are decorated with different looks from their Story Campaign incarnation.
      • Enemy heroes all use pink materials for their armor along with event weapons and battle outfits, with some exception. Apollyon and Tozen maintain their normal outfit and overall weapon visual.
    • Enemy Heroes in the Metal Trials also use a unique version of the Apollyon's Wolves effect, featuring a golden Apollyon mask instead of the classic black one (as seen below). This effect later appears in the event exclusive Timeless Wolf Illustrious set as the "We Bring War" effect.
  • During the event, fireworks will be visible on the War Map as they shoot up from the land, primarily from the eitrivatnen region. This may be a sign that the Shard may be primarily located in that region of Ashfeld.
  • Each enemy in this event has been given an alternate name, likely to reference that these are imposters, not the actual character they are.
    • Knights:
      • Apollyon as "SADPOLLYON :'[" which is a play on the common meme format of adding "sad" to the start of a fictional character's name to denote their sad state.
      • Holden Cross as "Holden Floss."
      • Mercy as "No Mercyyy."
      • Stone as "Rolling Stone."
    • Vikings:
      • Gudmundr as "Gitgudmundr," a reference to a common meme name the community has given this Viking warlord.
      • Ragnar as "RAHgnar."
      • Runa as "Non-Japanese Speaker," a reference to a line she states in the story campaign:"I don't speak Japanese."
      • Siv as "Screaming Intensifies," a reference to how she screams multiples time and increasing intensity during her introduction in the Story Campaign.
    • Samurai:
      • Tozen as "Over-Nine Tozen," a reference to the "Over 9000" meme.
      • Tozen's Shadow as "Under-Nine Tozen," which plays as a joke off of Tozen's "Over-Nine Tozen" name.
      • Kizan as "Cookie Zan."
      • Ranja as "Power Ranja," a reference to the Power Rangers.
      • Seijuro as "Say Churro."
    • In other localizations of the game, these names are appropriately translated to maintain the humorous nature of these alternate names. For example, in Japanese, Tozen's name is translated as "刀千以上だ!" (touzen ijou da; lit. "It's over a Tozen!"), which is meant to either be a pun on "当然以上だ" (lit. "it's beyond certainty"), or taking the 千 (sen; lit. "a thousand") part of his name literally.
  • The Event Order is a community riddle that results in a search for the "answer."
    • The Knight's Event Order translates to "Here are the lions."
    • When put together, the orders direct players to Point B of the new Shard Map, around the lion statues. Near the statues are three distinct markings as seen here:
      • 皐月: This is the old Japanese term for the fifth month.
      • The runic markings are Icelandic Runes for "twenty eight."
      • MMXX are roman numerals that present the number "2020."
    • The result is May 28th, 2020, the day when the season launch's Warrior's Den was pre-recorded.
    • Credits to user _Strato_ for solving this riddle: https://www.reddit.com/r/forhonor/comments/h17ho5/solved_the_event_riddles_may_28th_2020/
  • The second Event Order offers another riddle. Results from the previous Order are added to these to help solve the riddles.
    • For the Samurai order, 5 + 3 = 8, meaning the eighth month. This is further confirmed with how the eighth month of the old Japanese calendar is "Hadzuki" (葉月; lit. "leaf month").
    • For the Viking order, 28 - 22 = 6, meaning the sixth day. A day of reckoning refers to the Last Judgement.
    • For the Knight order, 2020 is plugged in. "Anno Irae" translates to "In anger" in Latin.
    • This results with the answer to the entire riddle being "August 6th, 2020." This is the day when the Devs announced when the midseason patch will be implemented together with the new Hero. The Viking and Knight Orders may be a reference to what this Hero may represent.
