- Mazu's Grasp is also the visual of the Pirate's default weapon, particularly Bou Yin.
- Mazu is a Chinese Sea Goddess who is the deified form of the legendary figure, Lin Moniang, a Fukianese shamaness from the 10th century. Worship for her has spread through Chinese communities on the coast and overseas, as she is revered as the deity of seafarers.
- Mazu goes by other names, such as "Matsu" or "A-ma," which refer her motherly nature, something shared by Bou Yin who is known for being "a mother to all."
