Draconite is the mineral used by the Order of Horkos to spread what they call "corruption" across Heathmoor. The mineral is known as "the Sacred Stone of Horkos" in the Order. The Chimera Alliance has found a way to use the mineral to counter the corruption.
Properties[]
Draconite is mineral of unknown qualities. Currently, there are two forms of Draconite: the Corrupted Draconite used by the Warmongers and the Horkos, and the Pure Draconite.
Corrupted Draconite[]
Corrupted Draconite is a mineral that is a mix of green and red, which exudes poisonous fumes. Some die by its fumes, while other will become twisted by it, attaining abnormal powers, even immortality. When in its most corrupt form, becoming pure green, it is said to have the ability to control minds.
While the Warmongers are the first to be seen actively wielding the corrupted Draconite, it is very likely that the "secret weapon" Sun Da was using was Draconite or mainly composed of the mineral, based on the incident that occurred during Zhanhu's Gambit.
Pure Draconite[]
Pure Draconite is a crimson mineral and the original form of Draconite before it becomes corrupted. It is said to be an energy conductor. Many technological breakthroughs were made thanks to the emergence of Draconite, with its crystals used as power sources to improve the warriors’ lives.[1] Not only Draconite changed the way warriors fought on the battlefield, it also increased the people's quality of life. Peasants would use Draconite tools to harvest crops, or Draconite stones to heat their homes.[2]
Pure Draconite was first seen during the events of Tales of Rebellion, where it was first being mined by Horkos miners. Their lives are harsh ones, and the Order of Horkos usually use prisoners, traitors - anyone who would question the Archons’ authority - as miners.[3]
Gameplay[]
Below is a list of ways Draconite is implemented into the gameplay of For Honor.
Corruption and Armor[]
The Warmongers who lead the Horkos have mastered the use of the corrupted Draconite, incorporating it into their fighting style. They know how to coat their blades with it and even create an explosion that causes enemies hit by it to be dealt damage if they are in close proximity of an ally. The Warmongers even further benefit from using this corruption as they deal more damage and heal from attacking someone who is affected by their corruption.
The Horkos have also found a way to enhance their warriors using the corrupted Draconite. For most, this causes their attacks to deal bleeding damage. For others, it can even grant them Corrupted Armor which will shield them from any damage and make them Uninterruptible. For the few leaders though, it will not only offer the Corrupted Armor, but pseudo-immortality and increased vitality.
Ilma's Inventions[]
Ilma has found a way to craft pure Draconite into all sorts of weapons, showcased first with the Draconite Weapon used in the Tales of Rebellion events. This scythe-like weapon's main purpose is to fight off the Horkos warriors who have learnt to use the corrupted Draconite to its greater extents. The weapon's main strength is its ability to remove the Corrupted Armor from the Horkos warriors, together with granting Uninterruptible stance, unlimited Stamina and and the ability to dodge a far distance. However, the wielder will be unable to access their original kit and be unable to defend themselves.
There have been multiple designs for the Draconite, starting with the weakest First Stage design, then the improved Second Stage design, and the foreseeably perfected Third Stage design.
- First Stage: The First Stage of the Draconite Weapon is very limited in its usage, only allowing for Light attacks and a wide sweeping Light Sprint Attack. The wielder can dodge a far distance, but otherwise has no means of defending for themselves while only having 100 health. Physically, the Draconite Weapon is still crude in design, looking like a hammer-scythe using a large chunk of Pure Draconite as its striking head.
- Second Stage: The Second Stage of the Draconite Weapon now has access to Heavy attacks and Zone Attack. The Heavy attack will be a special conic AoE that will reach far and knockdown enemy Heroes, while the Zone Attack is a two-hit spinning attack combo that deals high damage to all but the most corrupted. Their health has been slightly increased to 125. Physically, the Draconite Weapon has become a bit more refined in look, with some ornate designs etches into its structure although it still uses an exposed chunk of Draconite as its striking head.
- Third Stage: The Third Stage of the Draconite Weapon grants access to two Feats: Draconite Aura and Draconite Blast. Draconite creates an aura for 10 seconds that grant Damage Reduction and Uninterruptible to nearby allies. Draconite Blast is a special grenade that causes shards of Pure Draconite to rain in the area, dealing minor damage but paralyzing all but the most corrupted. Otherwise, there is no change to health as the Second Stage offered when compared to the First Stage. Physically, the Draconite Weapon has been fully refined in looks, becoming entirely regal in design. Only the blade of the scythe head features the Pure Draconite, and even it has been trimmed down to only the most necessary amount.
Other inventions of Ilma are seen used by Gryphon in the form of a modified crossbow and grenades that are both damaging while providing aide to nearby allies. This was referenced in one of the Daily Orders for the third part of Tales of Rebellion.
Trivia[]
- Draconite is very much based off the mythical gemstone of the same name which is said to be taken from the head of a dragon and believed to have magical properties. This aligns with the draconic theme that underlies the Year of Reckoning.
- The purple flames Wielded by Sunda the Zhanhu are known as Arconite, which are heavily implied but not confirmed to be some offset deviation of Draconite.
